the origin of Takayama Festival is not certain, it is shown
clearly that it started in 1692 after 1586.It is already recorded
that there was a Sanno Festival performed at once in 3 years.The
festival imitated Akasaka-sanno festival and the Kanda Myojin
festival of Edo. Although the stall was forbidden by Edo 1721,
although Sasahoko and the Dashi, a stall is living in Takayama.Then,
an import of the trick doll changed the stall in Takayama from
the single layer of an Edo form to multistory. It is called
that the form peculiar to present Takayama was established in
during 1804 after 1830. The ten stalls are specified to be the
material race cultural property of a country, and the festival
procession and the event are specified to be the immaterial
race culture material of a country. |

Festival 【Sanno Festival】-April 14-15 |
| Spring
Takayama Festival is colored a cherry tree and fresh green (Sanno
Festival). It is the festival of Hie shrine ensconced in Shiroyama,
Takayama-shi. It is said that the god of a festival is the Ooyamakuinokami
and the origin is that Taira tokisuke who is the Load of a temple
deified Hiyoshisannou. Hie-jinja serves as the patron saint of the
south half of the city area centering on Miyagawa of Takayama-shi.
An event begins from the lottery festival on March 1, and determines
the stall tow order of festival that day. |

【Shiraku
Festival】- April 14
A stall is pulled and arranged during the morning and the night festival
which is called separation starts with burning light on a stall warehouse
and a stall. Lighting each stall and singing a song "from a high
mountain",a night festival takes a round of a neighborhood, and
separates to each group.The appearance of the light which shakes in
the darkness of the night invites a spectator to the fantastic world. |

【Honraku Festival】-April
15
A festival reaches the climax. From the morning, among 12 stalls
which pulled in the predetermined place ,three stalls (Sanbanhiki,Ishibashidai,Ryujindai)
announce the work of a doll with a mechanism, and are exposed to
applause in the open space in front of Otabisyo.

Festival【Hachiman Festival】-October 9-10 |
| Takayama
Festival of autumn held when trees carry out autumnal leaves (Yawata
festival). It is the festival of Sakurayama-hachimangu built in order
to pray a victory when a mystery man called Ryomensukuna who have
2 heads and 4 hands and 4 legs is made to conquer. God of a festival
is Ojin-Tennou who is god of fighting. Hachimangu attends an Betuhyosya,
and serves as a patron saint of the north half east of Miyagawa of
Takayama-shi, and the Takayama stall hall which always displays a
stall is located in the precincts of a temple. |

【Honraku
Festival】-October 9
11 stalls pulled on the commemoration road in front of a shrine, and
at night, putting a light into a paper lantern, and pulling in a predetermined
route. The light which flickers at a stall is reflected in the surface
of river, and an illusion as if the flow at the time returned is felt. |
